Update!!

The Atoka UMW Unit met last night and incase you weren't there, let me give ya an update!!
-Gloria reported that Calvert Smith is doing better and that the doctor gave a good report.
-Phyllis Curtis was not able to make it to the meeting. Phyllis went home from work Monday with numbness in her face. Please keep Phyllis in your prayers.
-We discussed bringing the harvest supper back. We will take a survey in church to see how many helpers we can get. If not many people can help then we will probably just have a soup and cornbread luncheon.
-Our hamburger/hotdog lunch made $234!!
-Thanks to Debbie McDaniel we have our historian position filled! Thanks Debbie!! We have other positions that need to be filled. If you feel a calling to help lead this wonderful unit please contact Kathryn Welch. Also thanks to Debbie our website will soon be decorated with pictures =)
-We discussed purchasing a missions pin for Carolyn Max for all of her devoted years to the UMW. Debbie Welch will be purchasing that pin sometime this week. We also made a card to send to Carolyn to let her know we are praying for her following her injuries/surgery she endured this past week.
- This coming Sunday, September 14th 2008, we have our UMW District Annual Day at Grimes UMC @ 2PM. We will receive our awards and a certificate for most women attending so COME JOIN US!! Other upcoming events are as follows: UMW Annual Meeting @ Lambuth on September 20th 2008. Regisration is 8:30AM to 9:30AM. Meeting begins at 9:45AM. District Officers Training at Millington UMC on October 25th 2008 from 9AM to 12PM. If you are interested in attending any of these events, please contact Kathryn Welch.
-Our program was given by Jackie Howell and boy was it moving!! It was about children who don't have safe schools, children who go to school to eat their only meals for the day. We discussed adopting a child who falls under these guidelines. Jackie wrapped things up with yummy banana pudding and peach cobbler! YUM!
